Build Your Customer Base
I know that becoming productive all day is a huge change from just waiting for the next call, or the next customer on the lot.
But if you’re with customers 3 or 4 hours a day and sell a dozen cars, if you fill in the other 3 or 4 hours, you can sell another dozen.
It just takes planning & discipline.
Whether it’s making calls, texting notes, emails, working leads, etc., it’s easy to start controlling your day and your income.
If I said, “You need a base of 1,000 people to contact regularly,” that sounds huge. But is it?
You talk to 80 people a month and sell some, so just get info on 50.
You get a couple incoming calls / leads every day, so get their # and email, and you have another 40.
Talk to 3 or 4 service customers, visit, and tell them you’ll have some info on the next ‘XL’ soon and will send them the info for another 20 or 30. And you probably have 100s in your phone who buy cars, too, either from you or someone else.
That’s 100+ a month to add to your list, plus your friends. Remember, 30% have a family member who’ll be buying in the next 90 days.
When I started selling cars again, I sold 90 my first 3 months, and 75% were to repeats and referrals.
