Can you make $1 million selling cars?

Heck yeah – I know a ton of people who’ve made over a million bucks selling cars and you will, too, if you sell cars long enough.

The real question should be: “How long will it take me to earn $1,000,000 selling cars?”

That answer is easy, because it’s just a math problem based on how much you earn…

• @ $500,000 per year: 2 years
• @ $250,000 per year: 4 years
• @ $100,000 per year: 10 years
• @ $ 50,000 per year: 20 years
• @ $25,000 per year … A lifetime

Pick your year and go for it!

When I was a kid, my uncle paid me 50¢ an hour for plowing fields after school until midnight.

To make much money, I had to put in lots of nights and weekends.

I learned more and got better at it, and he paid me more. I still wanted to make as much as I could, so I kept working long hours.

I laugh about being the 8-car guy working 14 hours a day and making $1,500 a month. I finally realized I was a 4-car guy working two shifts – so I quit selling for 3 years.

Then I made a commitment to really learn to sell, started selling cars again and made more money in 7 months than I made my first 5 years combined.

There’s always more to learn, so you’ll never master selling 100%.

Let’s say you were selling 10 cars, making $50,000 a year with 50 skills and doubled down, developed 50 more skills, and now you’re making $100,000 instead.

Complacency Bites

You won’t use 100 skills every month. When you stop learning more, the ‘sometimes’ skills that get you those extra sales start dropping: 99, 91, 88, 72, etc.

Then as sales & income slows, just like sports teams; when they stop practicing, they stop winning games.

Just start learning more and never, ever stop!
