Climbing a mountain or riding a roller coaster?

Are you climbing the mountain or riding the ‘up & down’ roller coaster in sales?

One of the most common questions, and one of the most common “Yeah buts” I get – are about growth.

“I try, and always end up the same each year.”

The biggest problem is that salespeople confuse ‘trying to grow’ with ‘putting in more hours’ and hoping for more traffic. Sure, if you work double shifts and days off this month, you’ll probably sell more, but that isn’t growth. And those extra looong days this month, kill next month.

When you wear down and drop the extra hours, next month is often lower than your average was, before you put in all that extra effort. Work long and hard, get worn out, rest a month, work long, ‘repeat’!

A picture is worth a thousand words, and if you’ll take a few minutes to make a simple chart like these below, and connect the dots for your sales each month in 2024, you’ll actually see how you did last year.

Of course, you always need to spend some extra time at work for appointments, but you can control most of those. Your goal is to develop another skill each month to sell more – not keep a cot out in parts.

So what’s the solution?

First – ditch all the reasons you use to convince yourself why you aren’t selling more. ‘I’m not as good as I thought I was’ is a tough pill to swallow, when you’ve been working double shifts and days off for years.

The testimonials I post are either from new salespeople whose dealers and managers offered our training when they were hired, or when their store got JVTN®, or they asked to attend my 2-day sales workshop.
