How important is a proper greeting?

Your first few minutes with a customer are
more important than the next couple hours.

From the time they pull in on the lot, the clock is ticking.

And you have less than 5 minutes
to make them feel comfortable with you!

You’re making your first impressions of who they are, and they’re sizing you up, too; how you’re dressed, how you walk, how you act and whether you seem friendly, before you even greet them.

Think about their 1st impression…

If they see you and other salespeople watching them through the windows, is that a plus or minus?

Which is the better introduction…

Wear your favorite casual grunge, wander out slowly with one hand in your pocket, no smile on your face as you say, “Do ya’ll need any help? / How can I help you?” or “Ready to take one home, if we could make you a good deal?”

Does that seem warm and friendly to a stranger who’ll end up spending between $40,000 – $100,000+?

Or would it be better if…

You head out to greet ‘em with a smile on your face and a spring in your step, as you stick out your hand and say, “I’m Joe and you’re…” [Bob & Betty.] “So, who’s the lucky one this time, Betty – you or Bob?”

The ‘smile’ you’ll get almost every time is the clincher for a great beginning. Now that some of the tension is down a notch, all you have to do is follow my steps to the sale.
