“Sorry I’m Late…”
Are you one of those people who just never quite makes it to anything on time? Do things and all that stuff beyond your control seem to pop up and cause you to get to work just after the bell rings almost every day?
Yeah, I know, you’re never real late, just a little late – most of the time. If so, here are a couple facts to remember…
1) Being late is a “lack of respect” for your employer or for the people you’re meeting. Being late says to them, “I care much more about me and my time than I do about you or your time, and I didn’t want to be inconvenienced.”
And have you noticed that when someone calls you out for being late, you usually blame them for being the jerk?
2) Being late is a choice. You can stop being 10 minutes late just by doing everything prior to work or your appointment just 10 minutes sooner. When you decide to be on time, you will be – and until you decide, you won’t.
But quit kidding yourself with, “I can’t get there on time” – it’s just not true.
Being late costs you deals, costs you respect and even those friends who say, “I don’t mind,” really do get tired of it.
Seriously – just do the right thing.
